10 Bicycle Accessories You Need To Have

You've got the bicycle, you're ready to enjoy some leisure riding time but there are 10 bicycle accessories you need to have

1. Headlights
If you are planning on doing any biking in the evening or dusky periods, it is essential that your bike have a headlight. You also never know when you might get caught in bad weather and a headlight will keep you safer by making you more visible to others. Riding without a headlight is just plain stupid!! Headlights for your bike are a cheap accessory to add on and an added bonus is they can be used as a flashlight.

2. Speedometer
Although not a critical accessory, it certainly is a nice accessory to have. There are plenty of styles to choose from. Many even have a trip odometer. It is also nice to know what speed you travel at on average. It will make trip planning much easier.

3. Frame pump
If you are a serious cyclist, you simply cannot be without a good frame pump. The new frame pumps are much lighter and more convenient to pack than the old ones. When you get your first flat tire out in the middle of nowhere, you'll be glad you had that frame pump!

4. Hemet mirrors
This is one of those accessories that you either can't live without or simply won't have any part of. Over the past few years, they have gained popularity because of the added visibility you get without having to continuously turn your head.

5. Bike lock
It is always advisable to carry a good quality bike lock with you. The cable lock styles are very convenient because of the length they give you. Being long gives it makes it more flexibility when you are chaining up you bike. Just add a master lock and you'll be set. The horse shoe titanium locks are also very popular because they are very secure. The disadvantage is that you must be fairly close to something in order to secure your bike.

6. Hydration packs
If you plan to go the distance, a hydration pack is a must. The reservoir system comes in handy on long bike rides. It's much more convenient that attaching four or five bottles all over the bike.

7. Took kit
A bike tool kit is a must have accessory. There's nothing worse than having a breakdown in the middle of nowhere with nothing but your hands to do a repair. These packs are compact and easy to store and have everything you will ever need to complete a repair to your bike.

8. Bike Shorts
Okay I can hear you snickering already. We've all seen those classic lycra shorts heading down the road. Well the joke is on those who are snickering. You can't get better comforting than those that comes with the padding of a pair of lycra shorts. I recommend giving them a try!

9. Seat Back
A seat pack is a great way to store all those little things you need to take with you. You know them as keys, cell phone, wallet, and chapstick. They come in all different styles and sizes. Choose one that works for you!

10. Reflective vest
This is another must have for anyone that is biking. It might not have the same impact as a headlight but it's the next best thing. Light weight and inexpensive you can tuck it away for that one time you get unexpectedly caught in the dark. Headlights will pick up on the reflective stripes and let other drivers see you. A great way to stay safe!

Biking is a great way to get your exercise and stay fit while exploring the country side. But it is only fun as long as you stay safe and that is why it's so important to bring these 10 bike accessories with you!
