5 Nutritious Snacks That Will Help You
Feel Like A Tour de France Rider

We've all heard about the Tour de France and most every avid cyclist has watched it. So how would you like to ride like the cyclists from Tour de France. Well of course that's going to take a lot of work but in they mean time here are 5 nutritious snacks that will help you feel like a Tour de France rider as you cruise the roads. Keep your body fueled as you cruise the pavement.

1. Trail Mix
Make up your own trail mix at home. Here's how: Combine 2 cup almonds, 2 cup dried cranberries, 2 cup peanuts and 1 cup of your favorite childhood cereal such as Froot Loops. The sugar in the dried fruits and cereals with provide your body with some super fast fuel and it will also satisfy hunger pains. High in calories makes it perfect for all day snacking.

2. X-treme Jell-O Pudding Sticks
This is a favorite after-school snack among kids. Now it's available in a squeezable tube that fits into your jersey pocket with plenty of flavor choices. This is a perfect fast acting fuel source. Not only does it taste good it will give you a burst of energy and zap your bones with a does of calcium.

3. Salted Nut Roll
Lightly salted peanuts are then coated in nougat and caramel to make a delightfully crunchy bar that's not too sweet and it's easy-to-carry in your pack. A fast acting fuel will supply protein, carbs, sodium and fat to your body making it a perfect snack for those rides that deplete the sodium supplies in your body.

4. Meatless Jerky
Seitan is a wheat gluten-based product that looks and tastes just like beef jerky, but it has no cholesterol and about a third of the fat of the real thing and it's much easier to digest on the fly. It's a good source of fast fuel for long endurance riding. It helps replace amino acids on long rides that dip into your protein stores. It is also an excellent source of red blood cell-building iron, which is essential for aerobic endurance.

5. Peanut Butter Balls
These balls of energy combine equal amounts of crunchy peanut butter, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries that are then lightly dripped with a little honey and sprinkled with a bit of nonfat dry milk. Mash it all together, divide into bite-sized balls and chill until firm. The peanut butter ball is another excellent fast acting fuel for the body. Honey is as a very effective energy as is peanut butter. Sunflower seeds are a great source of muscle-mending vitamin E. A great combo for that long endurance bike ride.
